Impaired Driving on Prescription Medicine

Local Traffic Death In Houston Sounds Alarm

Personal Injury Update

This September 13 article in the Houston Chronicle, “Drugs drive a deadly road threat,” cites alarming rates of drivers under the influence of legal, prescribed drugs, in addition to alcohol and illegal drugs. The Chronicle reports that Houston and national agencies have begun to focus on education about the problem of impaired driving on prescription medicine, as well as stepped-up enforcement.

We remind all our friends and clients: If you suspect after an accident that an at-fault driver is impaired, request that the officer drug-test the other party.

Here is an educational web page, NIDA InfoFacts: Drugged Driving, by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that provides extensive information about the problem of driving on prescription medicine.
